Information Technology on a tight budget -- Cutting your IT budget
I want to help you save money and I am not going to ask you for a penny in return. Every year I save thousands of pounds by not spending any money on software. It was the quote containing the Sage Software that caused a friend to call me up and ask if I could help me get a better deal on software for his business - hence this article. Just like me You can now do most of the key tasks in your business using software that costs zero. They don't teach this at Harvard. Talk to the wisest and brightest people you know who work for or run a small business and they wont know the facts I share with you in this article.
Follow this approach to copy me and start saving money.
* Use 10 mins every working day to use Google to find the tools you need.
* Capture the detail of everything you find (and your experiences) on Evernote.com (Spend just ten minutes on every day on trying out one of the packages you find).
* It should take you about a month to find all of the tools you will ever need and be up and running on free software.
OK, as promised here is a shortcut - my favorite tools are listed below, these are the ones I use everyday. On the left you will find software that in most instances is free (with the exception of a few which have upgrades with more features to paid versions) and on the right to make it easier to identify their mainstream equivalents I have listed the software you will definitely have to part money for.
Come back soon as I will be adding more insights here.
